Hope School and College Visit

stepscic_word_p No Comments

It was a great pleasure this week to welcome Hope School and College to our wood workshop at Golborne. Students started with raw materials and enjoyed working with a range of tools, fixings and materials to create a snowman board for the garden along with a wooden yuletide log.  It was fantastic to receive such positive feedback and we thoroughly enjoyed working with you.  We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Christmas Party

A fantastic night of music and dance was enjoyed by our attendees at their Christmas party which was held last night at Rose Bridge Community Club.    A lot of fun was had with our selfie frame and props whilst live entertainment was provided by excellent local singer Michaela Whinnett who ensured everyone was up on their feet on the dancefloor.   We would like to thank Sheila, Margaret and Megan at Rose Bridge Club for providing an excellent hot buffet and dressing the room for our party.  A fantastic time was had by all!

Pop Art Portraits

WOW! What fantastic paintings have been created in one of our Art and Design workshops. Gareth, Stephen and Ryan have been inspired by the work of American Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein. By using their own image as a starting point then using technology as a tool to enable development, they have created a self-portrait in the style of the artist. It was great for people to see them working on these pieces at our Open Evening. Gareth, Stephen and Ryan have worked very hard and we are very proud of their artistic success. I’m sure that you will agree that their completed paintings are outstanding!

Birds of Prey Experience

STEPScic today hosted a birds of prey experience for our attendees and also welcomed Oakfield College and members of the local community to join us at Rose Bridge Community Club. Gareth from Hawksrus was very educational and interactive, ensuring that everyone was able to touch, hold or fly a bird of prey if they so wished.  Everyone enjoyed getting up close and personal with an European Eagle Owl, a Tawny Owl, a Little Owl, a Frog Mouthed Owl and a Barn Owl.  We would to thank Gareth for creating a thoroughly enjoyable experience and it was fantastic to hear one of our attendees commenting ‘I was scared before but not now’. We would also like to thank Sheila, Megan and Margaret at Rose Bridge Community Club for the use of the facilities and for providing refreshments.

It was a pleasure to welcome visitors and showcase our service at our Open Evening.  We would like to express a huge thanks to some of our attendees who volunteered their time to demonstrate their skills throughout the evening in planned sessions i.e. Cooking, Hair and Beauty, Woodwork and Art and Design.  We would also like to thank those attendees who welcomed visitors and served refreshments and Tina for providing the buffet.  For those who were unable to attend the open evening it has been a pleasure to welcome you by private appointment.   We look forward to seeing more of you in the near future.

Remembrance Day

In order for us to remember and honour those who have fallen in service for their country in World War 1, World War 2 and subsequent conflicts,  STEPScic have created a poppy wreath.  Gareth, an Ince resident, represented STEPScic and joined representatives from other organisations to lay wreaths in the Garden of Remembrance at the service that was held at Smithy Green, Ince.  It was lovely to see so many members of the Ince community gather as a mark of respect for our fallen heroes.  A huge well done to Gareth for being an excellent ambassador.

Halloween

We have had a fun filled day today to celebrate Halloween.  Attendees enjoyed dressing in fancy dress, having face paint applied, painting pumpkins and bobbing for apples, whilst our resident DJ, John ensured we had a party atmosphere.  Congratulations to Gareth for being voted best costume for his ‘Beetlejuice’.

We would love to hear from you
