Photography

An exploration of the theme ‘Disguise’ inspired our photography group to focus on celebrities and the paparazzi. We had lots of fun using clothing as a means of creating our own disguised celebrity whilst our cameras focused on getting that headline grabbing shot. We captured some fantastic photographs selecting just a few to present with some excellent results.

As part of our commitment to ensuring we develop knowledge and understanding of health and wellbeing amongst our attendees, we have this week taken a third group to experience the hospital tour.  The tour has been a fantastic educational and interactive experience which has helped inform our attendees of the different equipment used in the hospital.  Our attendees have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we would once again like to thank Tina and staff at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary for another fantastic tour.

A stunning 5 mile safari drive and foot safari awaited a group of our attendees today at Knowsley Safari Park.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed viewing a wide range of animals and it was a fantastic opportunity for some of the photography group to take some stunning photographs of wild animals.

One of our attendees is currently working extremely hard to achieve his personal goal of losing weight and improving fitness.  A determined approach has seen him increase his daily activity levels and at his request we are currently supporting him to access a gym.  We are very proud of his efforts and we would like to thank Brad and Jack at Strength and Fitness Lab in Ince for their support and commitment.

It has been a pleasure to welcome Landgate school to our Ince base today. Students have taken part in a variety of activities including football, art, cooking and smoothie making as well as enjoying our other facilities including pool table and games area. Our staff thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone and it was fantastic to receive such positive feedback with comments including ‘very welcoming’, ‘students loved it’ and ‘spot on!’. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

The unique experience of boarding Concorde was enjoyed today by a group of our attendees.  They were able to discover more about the aircraft and had the opportunity of sitting in the luxurious leather seats where Royalty and celebrities once sat.  As well as the tour, our attendees were able to see other aircraft like ‘The Nimrod’ and ‘The Trident’ as well as having fantastic views of planes taking off.  We would like to thank The Runway Visitor Park at Manchester Airport for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This week saw Phil achieve success with his shortbread by being awarded ‘Bake Off’ champion. Phil had stiff competition from Steven and Jason with all producing very tasty baked goods, but it was left to the taste tester STEPS Director Terry Mann to make the final decision. Well done Phil and to everyone who took part.

Fashion Design

Having taking inspiration from the paper dresses created by the Manchester artist Susan Stockwell and the American wardrobe designer Jennifer Lynn, our attendees have created their own piece of wearable art.   Each attendee has worked hard to create individual origami pieces using old maps, that were then brought together to create a fantastic, eye catching paper dress.  Well done to all attendees who participated in these workshops, their achievement certainly wouldn’t look out of place on a catwalk or in a fashion magazine.

Hospital Tour

The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary today welcomed our second group of attendees for the hospital tour. Our previous visit in October last year as part of our Health and Wellbeing sessions was a huge success and today was no exception. Our attendees had a fantastic time visiting a range of departments including A and E and X-Ray and thoroughly enjoyed finding out about all the different equipment and what it’s used for. On behalf of our attendees and staff, STEPScic would once again like to thank all staff at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary for another fantastic experience.

We would love to hear from you
