Salon Success

stepscic_word_p No Comments

We have taken appropriate measures to ensure our attendees can continue to access our on-site salon both as a customer and as a trainee.  The salon is fully equipped and attendees work under the guidance of our own fully trained hairdresser enabling us to provide fantastic opportunities for the attendee in the development of both employment and independent Living skills.

Outreach Support

Outreach enables us to provide flexible and tailored support to suit the changing needs of the individual with all activities focused on achieving positive outcomes.  Sean is currently wanting to achieve greater independence and it’s fantastic to see him developing life skills such as cooking and household chores as well as by developing links in his local community.

It was fantastic to see such excellent baking skills on display today as attendees worked to create delicious fruit scones.   A huge congratulations to all our attendees but especially to both Stephen and Mark who were successful in achieving ‘Bake-Off’ champions.

New Garden and Patio Area

It’s fantastic to see our attendees benefitting from the new garden and patio area, complete with polytunnel and raised beds, that we have created at our Ashland House base in Ince.   The investment we have made has ensured that even with the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, we are able to continue to provide gardening and outdoor social activities in a safe, secure and socially distanced manner.  We would to thank local business owner Lee Jukes and his team for their hard work in transforming this area. Watch this space for our next development and extension of service.

Accredited Learning Success

Congratulations to STEPScic attendees who have achieved success this academic year in their Entry Level 3 Awards.  Attendees have achieved nationally recognised qualifications through Open Awards in ‘Skills for Further Learning and Employment’ in the areas of Hairdressing, Building and Construction, Vehicle Cleaning and Food and Drink Preparation. Attendees have also achieved nationally recognised qualifications in ‘Independent Living’.  Chosen by the attendee these qualifications enable them to progress towards their primary goal or aspiration whether that be work or independent living and we are very proud of their efforts and achievements. Due to Covid-19 there will be some changes this year to certificate presentation and details will be issued to those concerned in due course.

Please note the images were taken prior to Covid-19.

Sunflower Competition

Flowers, fruit and vegetable seeds were what our gardening group was busy planting back in March.  Everyone planted a Sunflower seed in order to see who could grow the tallest sunflower.  Once lockdown came into force those plants were distributed so that attendees could continue to look after their plants at home.  It’s fantastic to see how well they have grown and are still growing. Jordan has managed to grow his to be twice his height and seems to be winning the competition. Well done everyone, you have certainly proved you have green fingers!

‘It’s so heart-warming and wonderful to see Stuarts million-pound smile following his return to STEPScic.  It’s great to see him busy working, concentrating on the task in hand and happy.’  These were the comments made by Stuarts mum this week as Stuart returned for the first time since Covid-19 restrictions were introduced in March.  It’s been a pleasure to welcome Stuart back to STEPScic and see him working towards his goals and aspirations.

We would love to hear from you
