Gardening

Our polytunnel and outdoor raised beds allow our attendees to grow vegetables which we then use in our cooking sessions.  Our polytunnel sessions focus on using the correct tools and equipment, developing skills in planting new seeds and removing any debris and working with others as part of a team.  Our attendees have the opportunity of working in the local community in the gardens of local residents. These training gardens provide simulated work experience for our attendees in which they not only develop their gardening skills but also their customer service skills.  Nationally recognised qualifications are available in this area.

Our gardening provision also includes grounds maintenance which takes place a short walk away at Rose Bridge Community Club where we are able to work in a safe, secure environment.  The focus of these sessions is to develop skills in using tools and equipment as well as social skills and teamwork.
