It has been a pleasure to welcome Landgate school to our Ince base today. Students have taken part in a variety of activities including football, art, cooking and smoothie making as well as enjoying our other facilities including pool table and games area. Our staff thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone and it was fantastic to receive such positive feedback with comments including ‘very welcoming’, ‘students loved it’ and ‘spot on!’. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

The unique experience of boarding Concorde was enjoyed today by a group of our attendees.  They were able to discover more about the aircraft and had the opportunity of sitting in the luxurious leather seats where Royalty and celebrities once sat.  As well as the tour, our attendees were able to see other aircraft like ‘The Nimrod’ and ‘The Trident’ as well as having fantastic views of planes taking off.  We would like to thank The Runway Visitor Park at Manchester Airport for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This week saw Phil achieve success with his shortbread by being awarded ‘Bake Off’ champion. Phil had stiff competition from Steven and Jason with all producing very tasty baked goods, but it was left to the taste tester STEPS Director Terry Mann to make the final decision. Well done Phil and to everyone who took part.

Fashion Design

Having taking inspiration from the paper dresses created by the Manchester artist Susan Stockwell and the American wardrobe designer Jennifer Lynn, our attendees have created their own piece of wearable art.   Each attendee has worked hard to create individual origami pieces using old maps, that were then brought together to create a fantastic, eye catching paper dress.  Well done to all attendees who participated in these workshops, their achievement certainly wouldn’t look out of place on a catwalk or in a fashion magazine.

The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary today welcomed our second group of attendees for the hospital tour. Our previous visit in October last year as part of our Health and Wellbeing sessions was a huge success and today was no exception. Our attendees had a fantastic time visiting a range of departments including A and E and X-Ray and thoroughly enjoyed finding out about all the different equipment and what it’s used for. On behalf of our attendees and staff, STEPScic would once again like to thank all staff at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary for another fantastic experience.

It was a great pleasure this week to welcome Hope School and College to our wood workshop at Golborne. Students started with raw materials and enjoyed working with a range of tools, fixings and materials to create a snowman board for the garden along with a wooden yuletide log.  It was fantastic to receive such positive feedback and we thoroughly enjoyed working with you.  We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Christmas Party

A fantastic night of music and dance was enjoyed by our attendees at their Christmas party which was held last night at Rose Bridge Community Club.    A lot of fun was had with our selfie frame and props whilst live entertainment was provided by excellent local singer Michaela Whinnett who ensured everyone was up on their feet on the dancefloor.   We would like to thank Sheila, Margaret and Megan at Rose Bridge Club for providing an excellent hot buffet and dressing the room for our party.  A fantastic time was had by all!

We would love to hear from you
